This stunning mask is handmade in Venice using the traditional papier mâché technique, where strips of paper are soaked in polyvinyl acetate and layered onto a mould to create a plaster cast. The cast is then dried and delicately sanded for a smooth finish and coated with a slip of plaster resin. The shape of the mask features a wonderful three-pointed central structure with raised swirl detailing that also extends to the rest of the mask and is coated in silver leaf overlay, whilst the remainder of the mask is decorated with acrylic paints and snippets of musical notes.
