Lipstick for a masked ball

What to do with your lips when wearing a half face mask

When attending a masked ball, the idea that your identity is concealed and other guests are left speculating as to who you are means that you’ll want to go all out with your make up to make a real impact.

Along with the outfit, mask and accessories, make up is one of the key finishing touches that you’ll want to put a little extra effort into ready for your next masquerade ball. Here are three trending lipstick ideas for that perfect masked ball pout.

Black tie masquerade balls

If you’ve been lucky enough to be invited to a black tie event, you can imagine that the dress code will see a plethora of black ball gowns to complement the gents black tie or tuxedo attire.

There are plenty of amazing black tie mask ideas to choose from, but to really stand out in a sea of dark colours, you’ll need to up your lipstick game and opt for a contrasting pop of colour.

To do this a bright red lip is ideal for making a real statement, but if you want to take things a stage further and add some real drama to your lipstick, why not add some red lip gems that sparkle under those disco lights? Just make sure you get skin safe lip gem glue, or you'll spend most of the evening reapplying them.

Carnival masquerade balls

Anything goes in the weird and wonderful world of carnival as our selection of amazing carnival inspired masks proves, so don’t be afraid to go all out with your lipstick and try a few new techniques to steal the show.

Go for a metallic lipstick as a base and add a little glitter using a small makeup brush before applying a lip sealant. This means you’ll be able to drink and eat without swallowing any of that stunning sparkle, all while adding some real glamour to the proceedings.

Cruise ship masquerade balls

Cruise ship masquerade balls are getting more and more popular, so due to their classy and sophisticated nature, you’ll want to bring a little of that chic style to your makeup for the big event and compliment your cruise ship event mask.

Opt for a lipstick with a slight shimmer without going overboard with colour and instead use a lip gem to create a faux beauty spot that catches the light for an elegant and timeless look.
