Masquerade Mask with Venetian Scenes – Colombina Scenes

Handmade in Venice from papier mâché, the Colombina Scenes Masquerade Mask has been crafted by layering strips of dampened paper soaked in polyvinyl acetate onto a handmade plaster cast to create this simple and elegant shape. Once dried the mask is then delicately sanded to obtain a smooth surface and coated with a slip of plaster resin in preparation for decoration.

To decorate this mask, we have applied beautiful autumnal shades of acrylic paints to achieve the irregular mosaic pattern, whilst the remainder of the mask is finished with gorgeous gold leaf overlay and raised gold detailing, as well as pieces of iconic Venetian scenes.
