Tragedia Musica Black – Harlequin Style Tragic Crying Sad Drama Masks

Here we have the sad half of the TV Awards display masks, Tragedia or Maschere Piange which literally means “mask that cries”.

These crying masks are hand made using the traditional papier mache technique and coated in a fine plaster resin decorated with black red and cream acrylic paints interspersed with gold leaf and sheets of music. A design that gives a nod to the multi coloured Harlequin mask which got its name from Harlequin wearing patched clothes
