Casanova Gold – Traditional Bauta Mask with Tricorn Hat

For those of you in search of a truly stunning and authentically styled Venetian Mask, the Casanova Bauta with Tricorn Hat should be just what you’re looking for.

This wonderful full-face Bauta mask which features a moulded Tricorn hat, is a wonderful piece of craftsmanship that has been handmade by Venetian Artisans to create such a striking and unusual piece.

The entire mask has been made using a traditional papier mâché technique, where strips of dampened paper are layered onto a mould to create a cast, which is then patiently sanded to give a smooth surface to apply the gorgeous decoration.

The mask itself, which features the classic Bauta pointed nose and protruding chin, has been hand painted with cream acrylics and given a slight antiqued effect finished with relief gold swirls. This is perfectly complemented by the distinctive thee-cornered Tricorn hat that has been beautifully decorated with black acrylic paint, raised gold leaf swirls and gold leaf edging.

To finish this already stunning mask, two locks of hair made from papier mâché, have been covered in gold leaf overlay and hang beautifully either side of the mask.

This mask is a true masterpiece of Venetian skill and is incredibly light to wear to a masked ball when secured in place with silk ribbon ties, but can also make an eye-catching and unusual decorative piece to hang on the wall.
