Upcoming Masquerade Balls and Events - 2016-2017

04 Jul 2016

Looking for a chance to indulge in the glamour and glitz of a masquerade ball? Fortunately there are plenty of opportunities in 2016/2017, even if you're not a member of the illustrious societies that usually organise these fantastically exquisite soirees.

Irrespective of whether you’re looking for a chance to soak in the atmosphere, trying to sample something completely new or just angling to show off a glittery new mask with a group of friends, you’re sure to find something to suit right here in the UK.

Below, you’ll find a list of the public masquerade events that we’re excited about in 2016/2017. This is by no means an exhaustive list though, so if you know about an event that we’ve missed then please don’t hesitate to let us know!

Public Masquerade Balls

Society balls are normally organised by a group of very dedicated enthusiasts, and are always open to public attendees. We’d recommend attending these balls with a small group of good friends, but you can always go alone if you’re feeling particularly adventurous.

Chatsworth House’s Christmas Masquerade Ball

With a champagne reception, a three course meal and live entertainment, Chatsworth Hall’s Christmas masquerade ball is pretty much the only way to start the festive season. Chatsworth House is an absolutely stunning venue in it’s own right too, and an evening spent in its painted room is sure to include all of the glamour and mysterious intrigue that would normally be associated with an event of this pedigree.

As the organisation’s own guide to the event states, formal wear and a mask is a must. Because of the high-society overtones, we’d strongly recommend that you pick something elegant, refined and sophisticated for your mask, like the Farfallina Gold Venetian Mask for women, or the Vivian Music Venetian Mask for men.

When: 3rd & 10th of December 2016 Where: Chatsworth House, Derby

The Whitby Pavilion Masquerade Ball

The Whitby Pavilion is an absolutely stunning venue, and their Christmas masquerade ball is absolutely guaranteed to be an event worth remembering. This year is Hollywood themed, so expect slinky dresses, lots of fizz, and a real party atmosphere.

The organisers do provide a free mask upon arrival (probably because they’re really keen for people to get into the spirit of things) but if you really want to stand out we’d definitely recommend something that will match the Oscars-inspired getup of the other party guests, like the Joker Face Mask for men, or the Gatto Fiore Black Cat Mask for ladies.

When: 16th December 2016 Where: Whitby

The Goblin King’s Masquerade Ball

A more unusual event that’s probably suited to the true adventurers among us, the Goblin King’s Masquerade Ball is an annual, fantasy-themed night of dancing and socialising that’s sure to make for some incredibly unique memories. Expect outlandish attire, an abundance of alcohol and an unforgettable night that’s truly out of this world!

Although you probably won’t be competing with some of the excessively well-produced costumes on display at the Goblin King’s ball, you can still leave a lasting impression - just pair your outfit with something like the Ragnetela Filigree Mask for women, or this snub-nosed venetian mask if you’re a man.

When: April 2017 Where: London (Venue TBA)

Masquerade Manchester 2016

A truly spectacular occasion, this masked ball is set to feature live entertainment in the form of acrobats, dancers and a slew of fairground rides. This event will also be set in a venue decorated to look like a traditional Italian plazza, and includes a three course meal as standard.

At an event designed to highlight the decadent and excessive nature of traditional masquerade balls, you’ll definitely want an outfit that stands out - whether that involves coupling a slinky dress with the beautiful Cigno Melody Venitian Mask, or combining a tuxedo with one of our Fantasma Half-Face Masks.

When: 2nd - 17th Dec 2016 Where: EventCity, Manchester

 Charity Balls

For the more charitably minded among us, there’s a range of charity masquerade balls coming up in 2016/2017 too, including events organised to sponsor . Public attendance is encouraged at these events, and it’s always nice to know that the ticket price is going to a good cause!

The Black, Gold and Glitz Masquerade Ball

As the name implies, this event is sure to be a glamorous affair; full of floating dresses, beautiful masks and the gentle buzz of friendly conversation. Put on in aid of Pilgrim’s Hospice, the Black, Gold and Glitz Masquerade Ball is to include a buffet meal, live entertainment and a magical act - something for all of the senses, in short!

Given the name of this event, it seems fitting to recommend any of the items in our range of black masks. With options for men and women available, you’re sure to find something that will match your outfit!

When: Fri 27th Nov 2016 Where: King’s Hall, Kent

For more information, see

The Human Appeal’s Masquerade Ball

With a keen emphasis on elegance and extravagance, this affair promises to be truly memorable. So far, the evening’s festivities are set to include fashions shows, story-telling, live entertainment and sumptuous dining. There will also be ample opportunity to dance, socialise, and show off your mask!

Speaking of which, for this event we’d recommend something like the Ladies Sweetheart Love Me Mask. This event is being held to help Seneglese street children, and is unfortunately ladies only but that’s still perfect if you and your girlfriend’s are looking for a fun night out that’s going to help someone less fortunate than yourselves!

When: TBC (2017) Where: TBA

The Children’s Respite Trust’s Masquerade Ball

Held to help support a charity dedicated to caring for severely disabled children, this masked ball is set to feature a sumptuous three course banquet, a casino, live entertainment and a ‘mysterious twist’ so if you’re looking for glamour and intrigue, this might be the perfect place to start.

There’s no indication of dress code in the Children’s Respite Trust’s own guide to the affair, but we reckon it’s safe to bet on most of the 3-400 guests wearing full formal wear. As such, we recommend that you do the same, and that you also consider augmenting your outfit with one of our luxury masks - chosen from either the men’s range, or the women's selection.

When: 12th Nov 2016 Where: Winter Gardens, Eastbourne
